Hello, my fellow wielders! I'm so excited that I finally get to blast people -- I mean, discuss my political/sociological ideas with them. :D Kidding!
So, I'm curious about what y'all think of a sort-of-political, sort-of-social issue: the media bias. Is the media biased at all? If so, does it lean to the left or right? Or somewhere else? Does it even matter? What, if anything, should be done?
Chat it up!

I have a relative (I shall leave him/her unnamed since they may view this blog at this point)
Who gets all their information on politics and such from the most prominent media sources, CNN, The New York Post and other such liberal indoctrination programs? Because of this, she often claims we are in a recession, or that we are not making any progress in Iraq, and that it is breaking our military. She also refuses to hear otherwise, even though constant studies by neutral companies’ show that these liberal programs are withholding, or in extreme cases, even falsifying information, in order to get more people who operate on emotions to watch their shows.
Not only do these strongly liberal biased media sources show inaccurate, sometimes completely false information on both liberal and conservative issues, but they condemn truly neutral news companies like Fox News.
Because of the above information, I can conclude that much of the media not only has a liberal agenda, but that it specifically being used to target other LEGITIMATE news companies with slanderous accusations, ensuring that no one who takes them seriously will themselves be taken seriously, and also ensuring that anyone who watches THEIR shows will never watch other shows because they believe that they are nothing but a bunch of environment hating war mongers.
So, in short Shelly, Yes, I think most media sources are liberally biased, and that it matters a great deal.
Einar, a staunch Conservative and proud receiver of The Limbaugh Letter.
I agree, the media is liberally biased - probably because the people who run the media corporations are liberal.
Example, all I ever hear about is Hilary-Obama, Hilary-Obama, day in and day out. It's becoming like an entertainment franchise - gotta hear the latest outrageous gossip about Hilary-Obama. Nary a word about McCain. Just the occasional anti-Dubya newsflash (which, even though I don't like Bush, I get sick of hearing. If we all hate him so much, why did we elect him? But that's another story.)
I hate watching CNN. Every time I watch CNN, I start soapboxing, and then my family has to lock me away for an hour or two. :)
The only thing I can watch on CNN is Glenn Beck, who is conservatively biased, but at least he's conservative. But even then, I wish there were somebody truly neutral.
Speaking of Glenn Beck, after he made a humorous report that Obama was definitely not the antichrist, a bunch of liberal news stations started accusing him of being racist, bigoted, hateful, all that stuff - and they grossly misquoted him. When talking about their reaction, he said, "The saddest thing about this is that I am not surprised."
I actually don't watch Fox news much; are they really neutral? And if they are, of course CNN is going to be slandering them. Because, if people are watching Fox News, then CNN's ratings (read: income) will fall.
Yes, in answer to my own question, the media is much too far to the left. What, do they think the entire public is made of whiny liberals like them? Conservatives need to hear the news as much as they do!
I'd better stop before I break my keyboard...
It is a little deeper than that, liberals have been using a three pronged approach for years.
Before I present my ideas, no I am not conspiracy minded and paranoid.
You have two classes of liberals, the liberal elite and the useful idiots. The strategy comes from the Lib Elites, the useful idiots are just pawns.
I will be brief on my observations of this strategy and if there is discussion we can dig in.
The first thing liberals did was control the education system. This allowed them to rewrite history (everything from creation to the founding principles of our nation) and indoctrinate the next generation in their values.
The next ploy was to maintain the minority oppression identity. Lib act as if they want equality and acceptance, but they do not. They are interested in having a constituency that is dependant on them to have equality (eg Hillary Clinton's speech in SC where she said, “Dr King’s dream began to be realised when President Lyndon Johnson passed the Civil Rights Act of 1964. It took a president to get it done.”)
The third thing that the Lib Elites are doing is creating an entitlement based society that will lead us to socialism. This began after the depression and was magnified by the establishment of Income Tax. Now the government has a huge revenue stream for the Lib Elites to use to buy vote and create dependency.
The media plays a part in all of these by fortifying the alternate history created by the libs, focusing on (and inventing) minority oppression, and claiming that all problems should be solved by some part of the government.
The media works to make us afraid of everything and the Liberal Elites offer to be the heroes who will use over powered, over funded government to protect us (even from ourselves).
Hey Bard, glad to see you found your way here!
Just so Ya'll know, Bard is my editor, and he looooves to debate politics.
He periodically writes stuff that could easily be mistaken for rants, but is actually an refreshing look at liberals in all their hipocritical glory ;)
Whenever he writes somthing he ususally sends it to me, if you wish I will gladly post it here whenever he does.
Nice to meet you, Bard! Welcome to PWG Talks! Excellent points about liberals, BTW.
Einar, who is Rush Limbaugh that you keep mentioning?
Rush is one of the most famous conservative talk show hosts around.
He has a great sense of humor and sends out an awsome newsletter called The Limbaugh Letter.
Here is a link to his site.

Personally I like him as much as, if not more than Sean Hannity and Ann Coulter.
Don't even get me started on this. I taught the media course at TeenPact this past year and taught all about bias and what not. I just don't feel like getting into a big discussion about it.
Every one has bias. You, me, everyone. Now, sometimes you can write news that has less bias than others, and you can always present different sides, but there's still always bias.
Even no bias is technically a bias.
The question is not wethere there is bias is not, it is whether the news is true. Most of the times it's not. They exaggerate stories and sometimes ignore the truth to make money. I'm not a right wing conspirator or anything, and I think that the media is incredibly important, I'm just saying they're messed up.
But that is no excuse for Christians/Conservatives to not be involved. In fact, it is imperative that we be involved in the media to make sure that the right bias is presented and given a voice.
So. I'll step off my soap box. Feel free to email me at sea1776@gmail.com to discuss this with me further. I'm tired right now.
In Him,
~Eva Turner
